Highlands & Islands Fire and Rescue Service

Retained Station
This station is normally staffed by up to 12 personnel working on a retained duty system. It is provided with a fire appliance which is equipped to deal with all types of emergency including structural fires and road traffic collisions. All of the staff are trained in responding to these incidents.

As part of their work, staff are also heavily involved in community fire safety activities, which includes carrying out Home Fire Safety checks.

Consumers are advised, to shop around for a home/fire safety alarm system, locally, before agreeing to a home visit.

Fire in single storey detatched dwelling. Approximately 10 square metres of wood scorched and 30% smoke damage to rest of property. Extinguished prior to arrival of fire service with water and a dry powder extinguisher. Crews investigated property using breathing apparatus.

Crews called to fire in local Inn. 5% damage to roof and joists with roof area. Extinguished using two breathing apparatus sets, one hosereel jet, thermal imaging camera and cutting away.
