Highlands & Islands Fire and Rescue Service

Community Response Unit
This unit is normally staffed by up to 12 personnel and is provided with a vehicle which is equipped to deal with wildfires (heath and forestry) and road traffic accidents. All of the staff are trained in responding to these incidents.

As part of their work, staff are also heavily involved in community fire safety activities, which includes carrying out Home Fire Safety checks.

This warnings follows on from previous press releases by Trading Standards as a result of firms contining to target elderly and vulnerable consumers in the Highland area. Consumers are advised, to shop around for a home/fire safety alarm system, locally, before agreeing to a home visit.

One tanker off the road and on its side. Fire crews dug dams either side of the vehicle and stood by in case of spills, until tanker was recovered.
