Highland and Islands Fire Board Convener, Richard Durham was in attendance to perform the official openings.

Approximately 30 square kilometers of trees and heath in a nature reserve on fire. The fire was extinguished using water bombing from a helicopter, beaters, main jets, hosereel jets and knapsack water tanks, various local estates assisted with personnel and equipment.

Fire involving a 1.5 storey traditional croft house. Cooker and surrounding floor area damaged by fire. Smoke damage to kitchen units. Fire was extinguished on arrival. Fire crews removed the cooker to outside and ventilated the building.
