Community Risk Management
Community Safety
The Service continues to gradually expand its involvement in
Community Safety with both in-house and joint working initiatives. It is engaged in
developing both strategic and local partnership initiatives.
Initiatives at local level continue to deliver benefits to communities. The direction for
the Service's initiatives is derived from national statistics and local studies. These local
studies are particularly valuable, as although the general trend of occurrence shows the same
indicators of deprivation, age and dependency as the national situation, our fire deaths do tend to
afflict the single elderly slightly more frequently.
The Service and its staff are fully committed to the delivery of free home fire safety checks which are available to all. However, the Service's main priority is to safeguard and provide advise to improve safety conditions for the most vulnerable in our communities. These home fire safety checks are delivered by all our operational staff who are support by Community Safety Advocates.
