Some of the young people from Achfary, Durness, Kinlochbervie and Scourie who
attended the first ‘Kids Camp’ in the North West visited Kinlochbervie Fire Station to learn about
the role of Fire Fighters and Community Fire Safety. One local boy asked if we would carry out a
home fire safety check out at his ‘Base Camp’ on the hill, as his smoke alarm didn’t sound as loud
since it got wet. They had a great morning looking around the Fire station and Appliance and left
shouting “Get out! Stay out! Get the Fire Service Out!
