The Ness Unit was opened in the mid 1960's in South Dell, and due to the size of the area a second unit was opened in Lionel a number of years later. Both units were amalgamated in 1990 which is now known as the Ness Fire Station and is based in South Dell.
In the 1960's the initial station was a corrugated shed in South Dell, which was later "upgraded" to a wooden garden type shed.

Since receiving the modern appliance we are now able to provide back-up cover for other areas of the island as and when required.
