Alex MacAllister MA, CA, CIPFA - Personal Profile
Joined the Brigade on 4 February 2002 from the Highland Council as Head of Finance & Administration and following the reorganisation of the Brigade’s management structure was appointed as Head of Corporate Services on 1 July 2003. He is now an advisory member of the Service's Executive Command and a member of Chief Fire Officers Association.
After graduation Alex trained as Chartered Accountant in Edinburgh with Deloitte &Co and thereafter was a manager with Scott Oswald in Inverness prior to joining the Health Service as a Chief Internal Auditor and later Deputy Director of Finance. During this period Alex obtained the CIPFA accountancy qualification appropriate to the public sector. On leaving the Health Service Alex worked for a number of years in the private sector as a Director in his family business. In 1998, following the disposal of his shareholding in this business, he joined the Highland Council as a Principal Accountant where he was responsible for all Joint Board Accounts – including the Fire Brigades.
