I joined Central Region Fire Brigade on 1 August 1980 and gained a number of promotions while serving in various stations and Brigade Headquarters as Project Manager for the provision of a mobilising and communitcation system. In February 1990, I transferred on promotion to Lincolnshire Fire Brigade in the rank of Assistant Divisional Officer with references that included staff, operations and station management. Over the next four and a half years I gained further promotions serving as the Deputy Divisional Commander and Divisional Commander for "A" Division which encompassed the city of Lincoln. On 5 October 1994, I transferred to Highland and Islands Fire Brigade initially serving as a Divisional Commander "A" Division and on promotion as the Brigade's Third Officer with responsibility for many corporate and service support functions. |
On 1 July 2003, after a temporary period of 6 months, I was appointed by the Fire Board as the Brigade's Assistant Firemaster.
In this role I am responsible for all Service Delivery functions which embrace Operations, Community Risk Management and Operational Support.
I live in Inverness with my wife Mary and 14 year old son Sean.
In my spare time I enjoy gardening, walking, fishing and playing golf (badly)!
