John Donaldson - Personal Profile
John joined Fife Fire Brigade on 4 th April 1980 and served in a number of stations as an operational firefighter and junior officer. He was promoted to Station Officer in 1989 and spent periods as a Watch Commander in Lochgelly and Kirkcaldy. Worked in Staff, Training and Fire Safety departments before transferring to Highland and Islands Fire Brigade in December 1997.
He worked for a period of time as District Officer for Sutherland, before transferring to Headquarters to review the Brigade’s standards of fire cover in 2000. In December 2001, he was promoted to DO III, in the post of Deputy Senior Fire Safety Officer.
In July of 2003 he was appointed DO I in command of the Community Risk Management Department which encompasses Community Fire Safety and Operations Support. In September 2005 he was transferred to lead the newly formed Operations Support department, assuming the role of Area Manager.
